In an age where technology dominates the masses, almost everyone with an internet connection is susceptible to addiction. Not only do big corporations like to spy on people's online interactions, like posting and scrolling and ordering, but they use this personal data to target specified ads or messages towards individuals based on what they seem to want to improve their lives. In addition, with the new generation spending the entirety of their days behind a screen instead of outside or with other people, social media influencers like the Kardashians gain power in followers willing to blindly gobble up whatever image they project in order to make themselves feel better. Cosmetic surgery, on both the face and body, and make-up take priority over everything else in life, including jobs and personal relationships. People simply wish to be media famous and are willing to sacrifice their own health to appear perfect - big lips, tan skin, hourglass figure. Ribs are removed and silicon is implanted. The government has paired up with the big corprations to make sure if a person tries to look like their natural selves, they will be overflooded with ads and unhealthy, "perfect" body images.
